Dunmore Cave is 11 km north of Kilkenny City.  

It is similar to other caves found across Ireland as it is formed of limestone and dates to over 300 million years ago.

Once inside the cave, visitors can walk through almost a quarter of a mile of passages and descend to 150ft (45metres) below the surface.

This cave, as well as being of great scientific interest, was the site of a Viking massacre in 928 A.D.
