Kilkenny City has an abundance of historical and cultural sites, including Kilkenny Castle, Rothe House and St. Canice’s Cathedral.  The city and its attractions are well marketed and visited by a large contingent of domestic and foreign visitors.  Most of these places are worth seeing so please keep some time free while you are in the area. However, the myriad attractions of rural Kilkenny sometimes appear to be treated as the “poor relations”.  Many of these sites and centres are little known and virtually unexplored by the general public.
